White Knight Viognier 2012
Clarksburg, CA  $12.99
From the Winemaker:
" Our Viognier is more than just a wine, it represents a growing alliance against the tyranny of Chardonnay"

Saint Amant 2012
La Borry 2012 Côtes du Rhône
This white Bordeaux shows brilliant light yellow with green tints. Appealing nose of apricot and ripe plum. 95% Viognier and 50% Roussanne grapes, showing full, seductive palate. A CPS wine tasting favorite!

.
Beso de Vino Seleccion 2011
Carinena, Spain $9.99
I like this very affordable Syrah/Shiraz blend from Spain.

Winemaker's Notes
The Seleccion has an intense red color that borders to violet. Aromas of wild fruits and forest floor, black olives and spices. Full bodied and concentrated with notes of cocoa, spices and fruits. Soft and long with well balaned tannins.

Neyers California Red Wine
Sage Canyon, California 2011 $24.99

This California Rhone-styled blend will rival many a Rhone wine from France.  This is a blend of Old Vine Carignan (really old – 120 years), Grenache, Old Vine Mourvedre and Syrah. A nicely balanced complex red with intense black fruit flavors.

Domaine Andre Bonhomme
“Vire Classe”
Burgundy 2012$23.99

.A crisp white Burgundy from two communes – Vire and Classe from the Macon region.  A special wine that is organic and shows a nice mineral chalky texture and herbal flavor with a hint of clover honey.
Heartland Spice Trader
Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
South Australia

Critical Acclaim
RP90
The Wine Advocate - "The 2012 Spice Trader Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color and shows off a pronounced cassis and black plum nose with hints of eucalyptus, star anise, cloves and pepper. Medium to full-bodied with lots of mouth-filling and juicy blackberry flavor, it is supported by medium level, grainy tannins and refreshing acid before finishing with very good length. Drink it now to 2017. "

2013 Domaine Benjamin Taillandier
Laguzelle Minervois
French Red Blend 2013 $19.99

Minervois is an AOC in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region. The red wines of the Minervois appellation are produced from Carignan (which can account for no more than 40% of the blend), Grenache, Lledoner Pelut, Mourvedre, and Syrah grapes.  A delightfully rich red wine to serve your guests this holiday season.

Force of Nature 2013
Paso Robles $15.99

Looking for a full-bodied red blend?  Try this big, fat dark and inky blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Syrah. Good dark fruit with hints of cocoa, plum, spice, oak and vanilla enrich the experience of this red wine.
The Taste of Italy Wine Luncheon on Sunday was a great success - over-flow attendance and why not? At $45 a person, it was a deal. Four wines were paired with four courses by Chef Matt Fahrner at the Falls Village Inn, Crystal Tillman from our shop.
I have stocked the 4 wines for our customers:

DiGiovanna Bianco - A white blend, estate farmedand certified organic. (Sicily)

Guilano Rosati Ripasso Superiore (Venteo)

Rocca d Castagnoli Classico (Tuscany)

Oberto Barolo DOCG - Full and rich with generous fruit, (Piedmonte)

Kenwood Vineyard
Sonoma County Pinot Noir

I like Pinot Noir paired with roast turkey - you get the flavors and body of a fine red wine, yet it is light enough in structure to complement white meat.

This wine is crafted from the cool climate grapes of the Russian River Valley and aged in French oak. Aromas of black currant and nutmeg; and smooth tannins lead to a nice long finish.

Shannon Ridge Petite Sirah
Lake County 2013 $14.99
We like this high elevation sustainable vineyard which produced this rustic Petitie Sirah. The wine shows dark fruits, black pepper, cedar and warm spices. The 9 months of aging in American and French oak finishes it off with vanilla notes.

Chusclan
Les Amouriers
 Côtes du Rhône Villages 2013
Cotes du Rhone Villages Chusclan is an appellation for quality red and rosé wines from the parish of Chusclan in the southern half of the Rhone Valley in France. Chusclan is one of about 20 villages that are permitted to add their names to the Cotes du Rhone Villages appellation, having been identified as producing higher-quality wines distinctive of the regional style. The wines of the Cotes du Rhone Villages appellation are a step up in quality from those of the Cotes du Rhone title.

Richard’s Notes: I like the flavors of the rich blend of Grenache noir, Syrah, Carignon, Mourvedre and Cinsault grapes. Serve this flavorful red with a hearty autumn meal.

Amor Fati Syrah 2011 $39.99
Murmur Vineyard
Santa Maria Valley

For our Syrah lovers: The Amor Fati offers a beautiful perfume of incense, dried, herbs, red and black fruits, damp earth, lavender and campfire. With fabulous fruit purity of red currant and blood orange, medium to full body, and moderately high tannin, this rich, knockout syrah should age effortlessly for ten years.

Domaine Rega Zel Corbieres 2013 $16.99

This red wine from Corbieres, southwest France, is made with 70 year old vines of Cinsault, Syrah and Carignan. We like this well balanced full flavored red blend which is showing good fruit, yet has a dry and balanced structure.

Piaugier Sablet 2012 $17.99

The Cotes Du Rhone Villages below is my personal favorite right now.  Silky and smooth, with robust character at a decent price.  This would be a good wine to lay down for a year or two, but I doubt I can wait...

ALAIN PARET
"VALVIGNEYRE" BLANC

CÔTES DU RHÔNE  $15.99
100% Viognier
Viognier is a rare white grape, difficult to grow, which came back from the verge of extinction (with only 8 hectares in the Northern Rhone in 1965). Alain Paret’s Valvigneyre is 100% Viognier, from 25 year old vines planted in schist and granite soils on 7.5 acres of steep granite slopes and dry stone terrace walls. This is a magnificent example of a white Côtes du Rhône from the Northern Rhône Valley. Aged for 10 months in barrels used for AOC Condrieu, and matured on fine lees with daily stirring, the result is a brilliant light yellow wine, with a nose of white flowers and acacia, leading to a refreshing and rejuvenating minerality.

We also have his red:

ALAIN PARET
"VALVIGNEYRE" Rouge

CÔTES DU RHÔNE  $15.99
A fantastic wine made of 100% syrah. Pure and honestly made full of craftmanship and structure. Deep purple red with a rich bouquet of black berries and a touch of leather. Supple and full bodied, concentrated with a firm structure due to the ageing on wood. Fruit and tannins perfectly in balance. A wine of great class, suitable for a couple of years cellaring.

 Diora
La Petitie Grace Pinot Noir 2013
Monterey $25.99

Diora is named for the golden hills near the vineyard in Santa Lucia Mountain range. Tiny clusters of densely flavored grapes created a deeply colored, full-bodied and elegant Pinot Noir. We like the black cherry and chocolate layers that lead to an opulent, silky finish. We enjoyed this wine with our Thanksgiving Day dinner. Treat yourself this holiday season!

Cummins Road
Pinot Noir 2012
Yamhill-Calton, Oregon $29.99

Merriman Vineyards was established on Cummins Road in the hills outside of Carlton, Oregon, in 1999. The Cummins Road is made up of grapes from the new south facing block planted entirely to the Pinot Noir clone Wädenswil, which traces its origin to Switzerland. The extra degrees of heat from the southern exposure ensure a nice, even ripeness, giving the wine its full character. Restrained use of French oak during the wine making process rounds out the palate and gives it a creamy mouthfeel.
89 Points, Vinous Magazine
Ripe red berries, fresh flowers and a hint of cola on the perfumed nose. Plush and expansive on the palate, offering gently sweet raspberry and cherry flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate that gains strength in the glass.

Zenato Valpolicella Superiore 2014

Wine Spectator Rating 89

Valpolicella is the most famous wine district in north-eastern Italy's Veneto wine region. The easy-drinking appeal of regular red Valpolicella is a bright, tangy, fruity red with aromas of violets and blueberries and the distinctive 'sour cherry' spice note found in so many northern Italian reds. It is as enjoyable at room temperature as it is slightly chilled, making it ideal as a refreshing red for warm summer afternoons. Serve with meaty or red sauce pasta dishes.

The Grapes: three indigenous red-wine grape varieties grown in the Veneto region in Italy's northeast. Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara are the trio primarily involved in the Valpolicella DOC,
